An NYX Experience: The Proud Artistry Event

If it’s one thing I don’t play about, it’s the brands I trust to use as staples in my makeup kit and my personal makeup bag. That’s why when I heard NYX Professional Makeup was having an event in honor of Pride Month, I couldn’t resist. The Proud Artistry Event gave artists and enthusiasts the opportunity to showcase their individuality and just what makes them them with their best pride inspired make up looks. As much as I love bright eyeshadows and bold lips, I had a young professional mixer to go to right after so I opted to sit down with the girls for a quick touch up and to get the run down on the new “Bare With Me Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil” collection. You read it right. Cannabis.

This new LA-inspired collection is special because its ingredients help to hydrate and moisturize while calming the skin. Quite a few brands are now seeing the benefits of hemp when it comes to hair and skin and are using that to their advantage. The “Bare With Me Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil” Collection consists of 4 pieces: a Radiant Perfecting Primer, Lip Conditioner, the High Brow Setter, and Blotting Papers. I had the pleasure of trying out a couple of them. 

As I’ve mentioned before, my skin can be naturally oily so I just really wanted to get some of my shiny spots taken care of. I was tended to by Miss Ebony who blotted up my excess oils with the “Bare With Me Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil” Blotting Paper and used the “Bare With Me Prime. Set. Refresh” Multitasking Spray to rejuvenate my foundation. She then went over my T-Zone and chin with the “Can’t Stop Won’t Stop” Setting Powder in shade Deep-Dark. My pout was kinda worn out from having it on and talking to clients the whole day. Miss Ebony lined my lips with an expansion from the NYX Lip Lingerie line, the Push Up Long Lasting Lipstick in shade After Hours and Slip Tease Lip Lacquer in Decadent. She explained that the push up lipstick formulation was like a lip stain, and she told no lies because my lipstick lasted through the 2 cocktails I had later that night. She topped it off with the Lip Conditioner from the Cannabis Seed Oil Collection. It blew me away because it gave me that ultra-glossy Instagram pout. I ended up leaving with the lip conditioner and the lip lacquer.  

Before leaving, the team gave guests a quick intro to some of the other new items in the store as we helped ourselves to some BubblyTM Sparkling Water and some Nothing Bundt cakes and snapped pics & selfies in front of the NYX back drop. I wish I wasn’t in such a hurry on the way to the next event otherwise I would have stayed and played a little bit more. But the time spent was worth it: had some snacks, got some makeup goodies & info, and I left with a brand new beat for the Millenial Networking event afterwards.

If you haven’t caught on to the cannabis or hemp trend that’s on the rise in the skin and beauty world, you should definitely get into it. There are tons of benefits associated with it so we can expect to see more of it in the near future.
