Travel Beauty Hacks: If You're Planning a Trip, You Have to Do This First

Travel Beauty Hacks: If You're Planning a Trip, You Have to Do This First

There’s nothing like breaking your full sized bottle of MAC Foundation all over the floor of your hotel bathroom when you’re on a trip. Now you’ve got NC50 all over the walls. Tsk tsk tsk. Trust me, it’s not pretty. If you’re going on a trip soon, try out these time, money, and trouble saving travel beauty hacks.

1)      Invest in a travel sized container set- When going on a trip, I always transfer my facial cleansers, body washes, toners, lotions, etc. into small travel friendly bottles and containers. For one, it’s more cost effective than going out and buying  smaller bottles of products I already use and have at home. Secondly, with smaller packaging, it’s less likely that products will ruin your clothes in the event that their poorly handled or beaten up a bit during the flight. Also, TSA won’t throw them away if you forget to put your beauty products in a checked bag.

2)      Go to ULTA, Sephora, or Nordstrom a few days ahead and ask for samples of your favorite foundations, moisturizers, or fragrances – This is my absolute favorite. Why?? Because if I’m out of my favorite foundation or don’t want to risk having it lost, broken, or taken (by TSA or a thief), I can get a 5-7 day supply for FREE. Trust me it works. Never again will I leave the city of Houston without hitting these places up first, and neither should you. It would be nice if you could make a purchase first *because classy* but again, you don’t have to. IS FREE!

3)      Check the weather and pack beauty and hair products accordingly- Can’t stress it enough. You probably don’t want to end up in New York’s dead of winter with all mattifying products and likewise you don’t want to be in Texas heat with a full coverage foundation every single day.

4)      Another good one is to protect your eyeshadow palettes! –If you’re bringing eyeshadow or anything kind of fragile, be sure to give it some cushioning incase it’s a bumpy ride. I learned that lesson after one of my palettes came back all kinds of banged up and broken. Since then, I put my palettes in a ziplock back and wrap them with a feew layers of my clothes. Whatever you do, DO NOT put them in that large front zip pocket of your checked bag. That’s the easiest way to spell disaster for you and any looks you were hoping to serve.

I’m sure there are dozens more, but these are just the ones I swear by with every trip. What are some travel tips that you must follow? Can’t wait to hear them :) Happy traveling babes!
